Council on Foundations

Senior Advisor, Community Philanthropy

David joined the Council on Foundations in June 2023 as its Senior Advisor, Community Philanthropy. David supports efforts to strengthen and expand the Council's portfolio of offerings for community foundations and oversees the Center for Community Foundations subsite of cof.org, as well as CF Insights, a financial and operational benchmarking platform for community foundations. Through CF Insights, David leads an annual research effort to track the growth and evolution of the community foundation field and leads individual community foundations through detailed assessments of their business models.

Prior to joining the Council, David worked at Candid, serving various roles all in support of community foundations over more than 15 years. He helped lead the transition of CF Insights from its original home at FSG, led the development of a new tool to assess community foundations’ engagement in efforts of community leadership, and oversaw a modernization of the CF Insights data platform. David also helped shape Candid’s engagement strategy for its network of community-based partners (formerly the Funding Information Network), comprised of several hundred libraries, nonprofit resource centers, community foundations, and other organizations providing free access to fundraising tools and trainings to their local communities. He co-led the Equitable Access team, tasked with leveraging Candid’s resources and networks to increase access to funding among less-resourced nonprofits.

David holds a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Marketing from Brooklyn College, of the City University of New York. In his free time, David loves to read, discover new music, take in a baseball game, and go on adventures with his wife and two children.
