Due to rapidly escalating health concerns relating to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the Council on Foundations has decided to cancel this Legal Matters for Corporate Foundations. This decision was made out of concern for the health and well-being of our attendees.
We will work with Northern California Grantmakers to find an alternate date to offer the course, ideally in 2020, subject to the containment of COVID-19 and ability to travel.
Check back here for any updates on a new date.
Led by the Council on Foundation's Legal Affairs team and Lindsay Mason, Lead Strategist, Corporate Philanthropy, this workshop is organized to ensure common legal questions for administering grants, board governance and charitable giving activities are addressed. This workship will provide technical and practical understanding of complex rules and regulations impacting corporate foundations and giving programs.
The Council’s legal team will tailor each session to emphasize the issues most frequently addressed in their interactions with corporate grantmakers. Sessions will be structured to ensure there will be time for questions and an in-depth discussion of the answers.
This workshop is open to any of the following employees eager to dive into the legalities of charitable activities, develop a better understanding of the law and unlock effective management and leadership tools of corporate foundations and giving programs.
Thanks to Northern California Grantmakers for co-hosting this event with the Council on Foundations.
Specific topics will be defined in advance of the workshop as attendees begin to submit ideas, pressing issues, and assist with the defining of sessions. This event is designed to be time sensitive and relevant to current issues. The format will be discussion-oriented, question and answer-based learning.
