CROSSING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE, RISK TAKING, AND ACTIVISM HIGHLIGHTED AT COUNCIL ON FOUNDATIONS CLOSING TUESDAY PROGRAM
V-Day's Eve Ensler, Partners in Health's Farmer and Walton Inspire Bold Action and Risk Taking to Tackle Toughest Societal Challenges
WHAT: As the Council on Foundations Annual Conference in Chicago concludes on Tuesday, April 9, more than 1,000 of the nation's philanthropic and grantmaking leaders will turn their eye toward the future to evaluate key components necessary to foster innovation and turn vision into action to ensure a strong future for our communities.
During the final breakfast plenary session, Risk Taking, Robert L. Gallucci, president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation; and other foundation leaders will share their perspectives on combining leadership and organizational culture to elevate philanthropy's role and effectiveness in supporting and enhancing our communities.
During Tuesday morning's Models for Broadband Adoption and Use: Tales from Three Cities, community leaders and funders from three cities will focus on the important role of broadband connections to our communities' global future and share strategies to overcome barriers to provide global access to resources and communications.
As the conference closes, Eve Ensler from the V-Day Foundation and Paul Farmer and David Walton from Partners in Health will participate in an intimate discussion about changing the world through bold action and tackling the toughest problems facing our planet-including disease, disaster, and violence. This plenary session, Activist Philanthropy: Challenging the Status-Quo-Change the Questions, Change the World, will inspire the philanthropic, public, and private sectors to collaborate on creative solutions to achieve lasting impact.
